My Best Friend’s Predicament

July 12th, 2009 by admin

My best friend since high school has earned her MD and her biggest challenge now is to pass medical exams to earn her license and practice her ultimate dream as a pediatrician. She’s super busy in her review center and whenever she’s available it’s either I’m exhausted from my work or its wee hours in the morning. She has never ending concerns about passing the USMLE. She visits numerous websites about medical exams, join forums, and ask a lot of queries just to gain insights. I should have been worrying much about her health but then she studied medicine so I’m quite sure she knows how to balance between her diet and studies. However, what concerns me more is her too much dependent on coffee and cigarettes. Whenever she’s anxious or stressed out she can’t help but turn to her vices. I can’t imagine why someone who has ample knowledge about the bad effects of those substances can still be hooked to addiction. I may not be a doctor or nurse but at least I know that too much of something is bad enough. With my constant reminders she would actually be henpecked, but sometimes I justify the fact that she might really need them at the moment.
